FORWARDING AGENT (Uruguay)

Impala Terminals Group facilitates the global trade of commodities by offering producers and consumers reliable and efficient access to international markets. Through its network of more than 45 strategically located assets and operations in 29 countries, Impala provides critical storage and logistics infrastructure services to energy and dry bulk customers around the world. The company manages two global businesses – Impala Energy Infrastructure and Impala Dry Bulk & Logistics - and is a joint venture between one of the world’s largest commodity trading houses, Trafigura, and the global fund manager, IFM Investors. ITG is a Joint-Ventures between Trafigura and IFM investment fund, owning and operating various assets such as ports, terminals and multimodal logistics assets chains in export driven emerging markets for both liquid and dry cargos. It operates as well several assets (owned by Trafigura) under a management service.

Handle container import/export/cross-trade transports. Handle related documentation (BL drafts, packing lists, sales and purchase invoicing, system entries, IMO/Hazardous cargo docs, customs docs, ...) Work with shipping lines to ensure timely and correct deliveries of the customer’s cargoes. Seek out potential new customers and develop new business. Liaise with regional Impala Terminals logistics units and act as a key communication pillar to our customers and other outside parties.

Key responsabilities: 

  • Independently arrange international (container) transports.
  • Handle files from A through Z, including financials.
  • Arrange customs clearance.
  • Negotiate rates with shipping lines and customers.
  • Prospect for new business and customers

Key relationships: 

  • Customers (Predominantly international traders specialized in non-ferrous metals, fertilizers, etc…)
  • International Shipping lines
  • Regional Impala Terminals warehousing and logistics units
  • External warehouse and logistics operators
  • Customs brokers

  • Knowledge of container import/export/cross-trade shipments, understanding of international trade terms and Incoterms, knowledge of customs clearance formalities.
  • Good notions of international trade and warehousing/terminal activities.
  • Bachelor degree, preferably Logistics Management/International relations or similar.
  • 2 to 3 years of relevant experience, preferably in Freight Forwarding/(Container-)shipping.
  • Fluent in spoken and written Spanish and English. Portuguese is a plus.
  • Knowledge of commodities markets is a plus.
  • Punctual, team player.
  • Availability to travel to regional Impala Terminals sites.
  • Open mentality: No 9 to 5 attitude.
  • Eager to learn.
  • Able to work with MS Office, and ability to operate our in-house software system after training.
